Obey's District (none / 0) (#4)

Probably the most in play of Wisconsin's for delegate allocation.

Already leaning Obama, but with 6 delegates, hard to swing to a big enough majority for the 4-2 split.

The huge Obama lead in Duluth, MN suggests good numbers from the twin port of Superior. A couple '06 pointers, huge turnouts from the UW campuses in Eau Claire and Stevens Point, and my 3 best Counties v Herb Kohl were in the 7th.

Strong pro-firearms rights sentiments even among the Dem electorate, but not a factor in the Primary with both candidates gungrabbers. This usually leads to a lot of split tickets in November. Feingold way outperformed Kerry. Obey hasn't had a serious Republican challenger in years.

How about local pol support--mayors, county leaders, etc?

Does Doyle have a big patronage machine?

Madison's Mayor's staying neutral.

Milwaukee's Tom Barrett was early for Obsama, but I don't expect him to play hardball. Doyle will make appearances with Obama, but likewise not twist arms.

County Execs, Judges, and Mayors are technically nonpartisan. They'll also be on the ballot, but only where there's 3 or more candidates for a seat.

In the smaller Counties, Sherriffs have more patronage clout than anyone else, but most are Republicans.

The big endorsement prize by far is Feingold. I suspect Kohl will remain neutral, if her does endorse it'll be Clinton.

I wish Feingold would get off the fence. (none / 0) (#7)

If you look at the issues Feingold cares about, it's pretty clear who he's really pulling for.  I would hope that sometime after February 12 he delivers.

Using his potential endorsement to make Clinton and Obama do right in the Senate.
