the cult of the celebrity.  I prefer to get my celebrity news from The Superficial.  By far the best, and most humorous.

the cult of the celebrity

See: Reagan, Ronald, an empty suit who could read a teleprompter, but who didn't know that he had authorized Iran-Contra and should have been impeached, so Republicans forgave him.

See: Thompson, Fred, an empty suit who can read a teleprompter, but apparently knows nothing that isn't on it.

See: John Wayne (born Marion Morrison), revered by the right as some sort of American hero, even though he never came close to actual combat, and only PORTRAYED brave soldiers, while living a life of ease and partying in Hollywood.  (Do you BELIEVE that there is a statue of John Wayne in front of the Orange County Airport, and that at one time a portrait of him in character as Davy Crockett hung in the Alamo?)

See: the mocking of all liberal celebrities as know-nothings, even when they articulate positions clearly and know what they are talking about.
