it starts in middle school (none / 0) (#4)

i remember playing football, in 8th grade, way back, before gays and lesbians were gay & lesbian. back then, they were just faggots, or dykes. the worst thing that could happen was to be accused of being one, in the locker room. it got progressively worse in high school. i can only imagine what it's like in big time college programs.

with all that, that it should be rampant at the pro level is not at all surprising. what is surprising is that so many of them, given the current atmosphere, still think it's ok to express their homophobia in public.

kind of sad, really.
