Bill Clinton, Larry Craig, and JFK did this sort of thing a lot.  That's what guys like this do.  Even Rudy Giuliani is a frequent flier.
Clarence Thomas, it seems, allegedly sexually harassed only one woman in his life.  No one else came forward before the hearings or since.  That's why the whole thing didn't quite make sense.

Another former Thomas assistant, Sukari Hardnett, made further damaging charges against him. Although Hardnett made it clear she was not accusing Thomas of sexual harassment, she provided the Judiciary Committee with sworn testimony that "if you were young, black, female, reasonably attractive and worked directly for Clarence Thomas, you knew full well you were being inspected and auditioned as a female."

One woman did not accuse him of sexual harassment but only of perhaps ogling attractive women.  The second (Angela Wright) said nothing for sixteen years, claiming "cold feet" although in the overwhelmingly liberal black world helping take down Clarence Thomas's nomination would have only have been a great career move.
Sorry, this whole picture still doesn't make sense, especially in a world that did not believe Monica Lewinsky (despite Bill Clinton's long and well-documented past history or extramarital liaisons) until the stained blue dress appeared.

Angela  Wright, did not get cold feet. In fact she specifically denied that in the link I provided. Other corroborating testimony the Democrats didn't use? Thomas' video rental records- which included pornography. Just as Ms. Hill testified.
